Service and scope

Mailwake is developed and operated by an independent developer. In these terms, “we” refers to that developer. Contact mailwake@oritx.com.

This agreement covers three types of services, each with different responsibility boundaries:

  • iOS Application: The official client software distributed through the App Store. Application software licensing follows the terms shown in the store; for App Store distribution without a custom license, the Apple standard end user license agreement applies.
  • Mailwake Core Self-Hosted Software: Open-source software licensed under AGPL-3.0-only that you deploy to your own server. Its use, modification, and distribution follow its included license. You are fully responsible for the configuration, operation, data processing, and usage of your self-hosted instance. Its connections to official and third-party services follow the data flows explained in the privacy policy.
  • Official services and Pro: Device registration, pairing, purchase verification, recovery, and native push are provided through our cloud services. New-mail native push and the paid app capabilities require Pro entitlement, obtained through an App Store purchase or an eligible active trial. Registration, pairing, and tests can occur before purchase.

Before using these services, read these terms and the privacy policy. The policy explains data processed by the website, app, and official services, including data sent by Core when you enable official service integration.

Free, Pro, and hosting interest

Free: Core web management, APIs, and bring-your-own notification channels such as Bark, Pushover, and webhooks. You provide the server, mailbox permissions, and chosen notification services. Third-party providers may charge their own fees.

Pro: Official application management of your self-hosted service, native encrypted push, and related capabilities described on the purchase screen. Available products, prices, periods, and trial eligibility are shown by the App Store at purchase confirmation. Before the application is published, website descriptions explain the product scope.

Supporter: Separate, voluntary support for the project, available as a one-time purchase or an auto-renewable yearly subscription. Supporter grants no Pro entitlement. Available products and prices are shown by the App Store. The hosting poll measures demand; voting creates no purchase, reservation, delivery commitment, or Pro entitlement.

Purchases, renewal, and restoration

Apple processes App Store payments. Auto-renewable subscriptions renew for the period shown at purchase; manage or cancel them in Apple subscription settings. Price changes and charges after a trial follow the information provided by Apple.

Follow Apple’s instructions to cancel a subscription or request a refund. Refund eligibility depends on applicable rules and Apple’s decision. Deleting the application or official service identity does not automatically cancel a subscription.

Restoring purchases restores eligible, verified subscription entitlements. Completed one-time Supporter purchases are consumable purchases and are not restored by Apple’s Restore Purchases function. Mailwake retains their records under the original service identity; use its recovery code to recover that identity on another device. A new device still needs registration, Core management authorization, and native push pairing. When Pro expires or is refunded or revoked, the corresponding paid operations and new native mail deliveries stop. Existing records, necessary cleanup, and Free Core features remain available under their respective rules. Changes to Supporter status do not change a separate Pro entitlement.

Authorization and security

For the iOS application and official services: Connect only mailboxes, servers, and devices you own or are authorized to use, and follow your providers’ rules. Protect administrator credentials, recovery codes, device keys, and backups. You choose the folders to monitor and the devices or third-party services that receive notifications. Ensure recipients are authorized to receive that content. Unauthorized access, credential theft, harassment, spam, and interference with service operation are prohibited. We may suspend or terminate access to official services used for these purposes.

For your self-hosted Core service: You are responsible for its operation, security, configuration, data processing, and use. Keep Core updated and configure HTTPS for public access. Core’s included AGPL-3.0-only license governs its use, modification, distribution, and warranty limitations. These official-service terms add no restrictions to the rights that license grants.

Availability and stopping use

Mail detection and notification delivery depend on mailbox connections, networks, servers, delivery providers, and device system policies. Provider acceptance confirms receipt of the request; display and reading on the device may remain unknown. Check important messages in your mailbox and retain other reminders for critical matters.

You can stop monitoring, unpair devices, revoke devices, or stop using official services. You manage self-hosted data and backups. See the privacy policy or contact support for handling and deletion of official service data.

Maintenance, security incidents, or violations of authorized-use rules may pause affected features. We will explain the impact and recovery options as appropriate. These terms preserve your consumer rights under applicable law.

Changes and contact

We will update this page and its date when the service scope or terms change, and give separate notice under applicable rules for changes affecting existing purchases or important rights. For questions or disputes, contact mailwake@oritx.com so we can investigate and respond.
