Connect the App
An outpost is the Mailwake service running on a server or NAS. Prepare an outpost administrator account, a trusted HTTPS address reachable from your phone, and the official Mailwake App.
Create an invitation
- Open the outpost's Web console through the HTTPS address you intend the phone to use.
- Open App authorization and create an invitation. Select the management permissions, content access and notification pairing you want to grant.
- In the App, open Connect outpost and scan the invitation QR code, or use the invitation text when available.
- Compare the displayed address and the outpost fingerprint with the console. Confirm only the outpost you intended to connect.
An invitation expires after five minutes and is single-use. Create a fresh one if it expires. Treat its QR code and link as credentials.
Enable native notifications
Allow notifications in iOS. After pairing, return to the outpost's notification settings, select Mailwake App, choose the receiving phone, and save. Then send a test notification. Pairing alone does not select a delivery target.
The free test checks the push path and is subject to the service's test quota. Ordinary email pushes require an active native-push entitlement. Pro management checks in the official App are separate from the outpost's owner-granted permissions.
Choose access deliberately
The owner grants management scopes and content access separately. Content permission allows reading messages in currently subscribed folders through the confirmed outpost address. Body reading is free. Folder discovery and management changes in the official App require Pro. Reads, deletion, diagnostics and tests of saved settings remain free. Browsing and script management in the self-hosted Web console remain free.
Disconnect or replace a phone
Remove the connection in the App and review the separate management and push revocations. You can also revoke the authorization in the outpost. When the outpost observes that its selected receiving phone is revoked, it clears the native channel selection; choose and save another target to resume delivery. Healthy pairing synchronization normally takes about 60–80 seconds, plus the console refresh; network failures delay it.
For a replacement phone, create a new invitation and explicitly select the new recipient. After restoring an older backup, verify authorizations and pair again where necessary.
