Connect a mailbox
The outpost supports up to 20 mailboxes with TLS IMAP. Each mailbox has its own credentials, subscriptions and connection budget.
For Pro management on iPhone, follow Add a mailbox in the App.
Prepare credentials
Enable IMAP in your provider's settings. Use the provider's app password or authorization code where required. Some organizational accounts require administrator approval. The outpost authenticates with the supplied IMAP username and password; check that your provider permits this method.
Choose a provider preset in the console or enter its documented TLS IMAP host and port, usually 993. Use the full email address when required. Common presets include QQ, 163, 126, iCloud and Gmail. Provider restrictions can differ by account, so confirm the settings in your provider's own help.
Add and test
- Sign in to the outpost Web console and open Mailboxes.
- Add a display name, IMAP host, port, username and authorization credential.
- Test the connection and save. A successful connection confirms authentication; subscriptions determine which folders are watched.
- Select folders and configure a notification channel.
Display names appear in notifications, including when message preview is off. Choose a name suitable for sharing with your delivery provider.
Change credentials or remove a mailbox
Saved passwords are write-only. If the host, port and username stay unchanged, omitted credentials keep their saved values. Changing any of those connection fields requires re-entering the password; after rotating it with your provider, explicitly supply the new credential. Connection errors identify the affected mailbox for independent troubleshooting.
Removing a mailbox stops its monitoring. Notifications already queued retain their delivery plan and may still be delivered. Review the confirmation and keep any history or settings you need before deletion. Use a complete backup for recoverable deployment state.
Troubleshoot authentication
Check the hostname, TLS port, full username, authorization code and provider IMAP setting. Ensure the outpost host can reach the provider. If authentication succeeds but folders are absent, refresh discovery and check that the folder exists on the IMAP server rather than only in a mail client's local storage.
